2nd Grade

Our second-grade team is excited to partner with families for a year filled with learning, growth, discovery, and fun! Throughout the year, students will strengthen foundational skills while becoming more independent, confident, and curious learners. 

In Reading, students will build and strengthen their reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and writing skills while learning to identify key ideas, make connections and support their thinking using text evidence. Our goal is to foster a love of reading in all of our students! 

In Math, students will develop a stronger number sense and learn how to add and subtract within 200 using a variety of different strategies. They will also strengthen their place value understanding, measurement skills, and problem solving. 

In Social Studies, students will learn about the Creek and Cherokee tribes and better understand major historical figures and events. In Science, we will dive into Life, Earth and Physical Science, and participate in hands-on experiments.
