4th Grade
Welcome to 4th Grade!
Fourth grade is a year of growing independence, deeper thinking, and building confidence as learners. Students will strengthen their skills across all subject areas as they develop as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and historians. Instruction is guided by the Georgia Standards and focuses on helping students explain their thinking, solve problems, and make meaningful connections across content areas.
In math, students develop number sense through multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions, measurement, geometry, and problem solving. In ELA, they read and analyze fiction and informational texts, support their thinking with evidence, expand vocabulary, and write clearly for different purposes. In science, students explore topics such as weather, ecosystems, the solar system, and forces and motion through hands-on investigations and inquiry. In social studies, they learn about United States history from the American Revolution through the early 20th century, connecting historical events, geography, economics, and government.
Fourth grade also emphasizes meaningful learning experiences that help students apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Students will engage in hands-on investigations, collaborative projects, and problem-solving activities that encourage curiosity and teamwork. Throughout the year, they will grow as independent, responsible learners who are prepared for the next grade level and excited about continued learning. The fourth-grade teachers wish for your students to grow as individuals and lifelong learners.
